Las Vegas Poker Rooms
Las Vegas is widely regarded as the number one gambling city in the entire world, so it comes as no surprise that they have a significant number of poker rooms to choose from. You won’t find any place in the world that has a greater number of different casinos with poker rooms in one place. Though some are definitely more active and well known than others, each of the poker rooms has action readily available. Most rooms are known for one thing or another, be it their tournaments, high stakes action or otherwise. If you are a serious poker player and want to see where the biggest games are played, Las Vegas is the place to be.
There has been a lot of changes in the poker world throughout Las Vegas over the years. Binion’s used to be where everyone played and the high stakes games always ran, and they even hosted the World Series of Poker for many years. Then, over time, the games shifted to other casinos like The Mirage. Today, neither Binion’s or The Mirage can claim that they are the most popular poker room in the city. In fact, The Bellagio became the number one poker room in Las Vegas with the addition of Bobby’s Room which created incredibly high limit poker games of all sorts. Today, Aria seems to be taking over much of the action.

One thing that you will notice about the poker scene in Las Vegas is that the lower limit crowds tend to follow the high limit players. Everyone wants to be where the action is, and with good reason. Even if you are not actually going to be playing in any of the very big games, you would just find it appealing to be playing at the same casino as all of the top players in the world. This is what dictates which room has the most games running in Las Vegas and it has been this way for years. Aria was a decent room when it first opened in late 2009, but it was not where poker players flocked. Ivey’s room, named after Phil Ivey, helped to draw attention to this location. Slowly but surely the biggest games that used to be run almost exclusively at Bellagio have made their way over to Aria and Ivey’s room. If you are visiting Las Vegas and want to see some of the players who you have watched on TV, Aria is the place to be.
The fact that Las Vegas is such a heavily populated tourist area is what makes the games so great. People come to this city with the intention of gambling, so it is not hard to field a table for whatever kind of game you might like to play. Small stakes, mid stakes, or high stakes-there is always something for players of all limits to play.
One thing that Las Vegas has that no other city can claim is the World Series of Poker. Though there are circuit events that run throughout the United States during the year, the Main Event and its associated tournaments play out during the summer in the Nevada heat. Currently, these tournaments and cash games are played at Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino. If you are a poker player, you will have more fun than you could possibly imagine when going out for the World Series of Poker. The cash games and tournaments alike are just never ending and you will be hard pressed to find more action packed tables. Not only is it an experience, but you will never have a better time playing poker. The WSOP is an attraction to many and it is with very good reason that Rio’s convention area is packed year in and year out.
One of the nice things about poker in LV is that you can feasibly walk from room to room. While a walk from Rio to The Venetian might not be the most pleasant or ideal, going from The Venetian to The Bellagio is not much of a struggle. The main Las Vegas strip on Las Vegas Boulevard seems much more condensed in pictures than it is in reality, however. When you are actually in the city itself, you will get a feel for just how big and spread out everything is. Most of the big poker rooms are located relatively close to each other, though, making it a breeze to move from one room to the next.
Needless to say, hotels and other accommodations are not a worry in the least when you are traveling to Las Vegas to play poker. There are so many different properties to choose from that it is hard to go wrong. Look for the rooms that offer the best rates of course, but don’t sacrifice too much quality. You should still be staying at a casino that has nice rooms and will provide you with a pleasant stay. Many casinos offer poker room rates in Las Vegas, meaning that poker players get a discount off of the listed prices. Unless you already have a deal, this is worth checking out. Prices for rooms in Las Vegas are very much subject to the time of week and year, but you will usually be able to find a deal through one way or another.
